Caramelized Pork Rice Bowls

Oct 29th, 2021

Farmers John and Emily Barnes of Bravo Steaks met over cattle and dreamed of someday starting their own farm. They are now first-generation farmers that raise Berkshire pigs as well as black Angus and Angus-cross cattle on fresh pasture in the Carolinas. If you are in the Charlotte and Midlands-SC markets which includes Columbia, South Carolina, and Augusta, Georgia, you can find their products on Market Wagon

They designed this Asian-inspired recipe that includes their delicious ground pork, fresh produce from local farms, and a variety of spices. If you aren't in their markets, you can still create the recipe with delicious meat and produce from local farmers in your community!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cook onion and ground pork together in a skillet, breaking up the ground pork with a spoon or spatula.
  2. Once fully cooked, drain any excess fat.
  3. Add ginger, garlic, Thai chili garlic sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire, and soy sauce.  Cook until sauce forms and starts to thicken.
  4. The next step is crucial and the secret to making this taste irresistible - continue cooking over medium-high heat for 5-10 minutes longer, allowing the pork to caramelize in the sauce.
  5. Serve over cooked rice and fresh sauteed vegetables.
