Inc. 5000 recognition validates farmers’ hard work every day and growing interest in Local Food

Aug 18th, 2022

This week brought big news for Market Wagon. The company was recognized as one of the 500 fastest growing businesses in America on the prestigious Inc. 5000 annual list (No. 450 to be exact). In addition, Market Wagon was also the 15th fastest growing company in the Food & Beverage category.

But the rankings are just numbers. What’s far more important is that they are a reflection of Market Wagon’s purpose to help local farmers and the idea that locally-sourced food and eCommerce is the way of the future.

And that’s why Market Wagon and its employees have just one thing to say collectively after the announcement: thank YOU! Thank you vendors for your hard work each and every day to produce delicious food! Thank you customers for putting your trust in them and in us to bring the best of Local Food.

“Market Wagon’s mission statement is enabling food producers to thrive in their local market,” said Nick Carter, Market Wagon CEO and co-founder. “This recognition from the Inc. 5000 validates the hard work that farmers and food producers put in their own community 365 days a year. While individual farmers may never make the Inc. 5000 list, this award reflects their efforts to feed people in each of the communities we serve.”

In addition, Nick was one of the people profiled by Inc., in a story that you can read online now as well as in the September issue of Inc. magazine which will be available on Aug. 23.

“The accomplishment of building one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., in light of recent economic roadblocks, cannot be overstated,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Inc. is thrilled to honor the companies that have established themselves through innovation, hard work, and rising to the challenges of today.”

According to a recent shopping survey, online grocery sales climbed to $7.8 billion in July, a 25% increase over sales from July 2021.

“While it’s always nice to have recognition for success from the Inc. 5000 list, the real winners from this ranking are both the farmers and food producers who are thriving with the revenue brought in by Market Wagon’s last mile delivery, and the customers who love supporting Local Food in their community but haven’t always been able to, until now,” Nick said.

So, let’s celebrate together! The number 450 is sweet success—but it wouldn’t be possible without you.

Truly, thank you.
