Kroger Farmers Market powered by Market Wagon introduces new way to shop local in Greater Columbus metro area

Jan 23rd, 2023

COLUMBUS, January 23, 2023 – Kroger Columbus Division, today launched an expansion of its digital farmers market into Columbus, Ohio, in collaboration with Market Wagon. Developed as an e-commerce marketplace for local farmers and businesses, the service is a digital platform that offers customers a wide range of fresh products from the Columbus area.

The delivery service offers a unique assortment of more than 1,400 products from more than 75 vendors – including local farmers, bakeries and food artisans.

"Kroger’s e-commerce business is flourishing and we are always seeking new ways to bring value to our customers’ lives," said Dana Zurcher, Kroger Columbus Division President. "The digital farmers market experience eliminates barriers for those eager to support local businesses by making it easy to order fresh goods online and have them delivered straight from farm to doorstep. We are excited about the expansion of the collaboration to Columbus where it will be available to 2.4 million people in 14 counties.”

The launch in the Greater Columbus Metro Area represents an expansion of a collaboration between Kroger and Market Wagon. In June 2022, the companies announced a pilot program in Atlanta, Georgia, to build on Kroger’s rapidly growing seamless ecosystem, creating innovative, modern and cost-effective solutions by offering personalized solutions for customers while also supporting local businesses. Earlier this month, the program also expanded to include Knoxville, Tennessee.

“The local food movement wins every time we connect a farmer with a new customer,” said Nick Carter, Market Wagon’s Co-Founder and CEO. “That’s why I’m so excited that Kroger, America’s grocer, and Market Wagon can partner and create a stronger market for local food producers in Central Ohio.”
