Chef’s Harvest Farm is an Organic, No-till Urban Farm. I specialize in high-quality salad mix and root vegetables like carrots, radishes, turnips and beets. I grow everything without the use of machinery. Everything is small, using hand tools only. This gives a level of care that conventional agriculture does not. I use a permanent bed system, so the ground has never been tilled and I focus on building soil life and soil biology to create a well-balanced and healthy ecosystem. I use no Synthetic Chemicals, instead, I use flowering diversity, crop rotation, floating row covers, and beneficial insects for pest management strategies. And if I do get into an emergency situation I will use some organic approved bacteria's and funguses as a knock down before I release beneficial insects. My main source of fertilization comes from compost, and cover crops.
I am most proud to be growing food for my local community in a manner that helps the environment and builds an ecosystem. Rather than conventional agriculture which destroys the ecosystem and relies on harsh chemicals and pesticides to grow crops.
What matters most is that I am providing my community with healthy and sustainably grown produce. Without the use of pesticides and chemicals. And that I do this using practices that encourage a healthy ecosystem.
