About
Farmstead Foods is a small family-run fresh food supplier located in southern Illinois. We take pride in delivering super fresh food. We have partnered with a number of small family farms in the Illinois/Missouri region to provide our chefs and consumers with some of the highest quality local homegrown produce and farm-fresh foods that you will find. Due to the logistical complexities for a number of small farms and producers in our area, we formed a co-op of sorts as a way to pool resources and reduce the carbon footprint. Our goal is to help grow a sustainable food system that benefits local farmers and consumers.
We define local as a product that is produced within 150 miles of Benton, IL, or grown within our state. Our producers are typically small family-run businesses trying to grow for the local communities here in southern IL.
Literally fresh from the farm in most seasons of the year. Most days we pick up from our farms day of harvest. The fresher it is the tastier it is! As you already know, the sooner a product is consumed after harvest/production the better eating quality it has. None of our products are coated with food-grade wax or resin or any other kind of preservatives to maintain freshness. Our "farm to table" concept only requires the shelf life that Mother Nature gives it.
