We are a local family farm specializing in Katahdin Hair Sheep breeding stock and meat sheep, and raise other livestock such as cattle, pigs, goats and poultry as well as experiment with gardening for fun and for the dinner table! We do small-scale, pasture-based production on our 10-acre farm, and our sheep get hired to graze down invasive species, weeds, brush, poison ivy, and pretty much anything you don’t want in yards or woods. We supplement the sheep and other animals with feed from our local family feed store, and spent grains from a local brewery. We bale 99% of our own hay, and buy in haylage, baleage, and silage as needed depending on the nutritional needs of the animals (for example, pregnant and lactating ewes get plenty of haylage and enjoy silage as well!). Our animals receive no added growth hormones, no unnecessary antibiotics. While growing, they receive appropriate and veterinary-guided medications as necessary for their health and well-being. We are passionate about raising animals that thrive on a small acreage and rotate through several pastures, paddocks, pens and the barn on our farm. We strive to ensure every animal enjoys plenty of sunshine, space to stretch their legs and play.
We have in stock a wide array of cuts from all species, from your standard beef or pork roasts to chicken, turkey, and even duck breasts and whole ducks! Our pride, however, is our Katahdin lamb; because these are hair sheep they require no shearing and shed their own wool every spring. This means there is no "wool" or excess lanolin affecting the flavor of the meat - even mutton (a sheep over 1 year of age) tastes good and many customers say this is the best sheep they have ever tried! We also have the occasional goat available - if you like lamb you'll probably enjoy goat meat!
