In the 1930’s two brothers, David & Bob Wertheim, were quite well known around central Illinois for being confectioner’s of new & delightfully tasty candies. Unfortunately, about 1934, they had a falling out of sorts over a young lady, Nancy Hoblit, from Atlanta, IL. Although the two brothers would go their separate ways, David to the state of Washington, & Bob to Atlanta to marry his sweetheart, both continued to dabble in candy making.
Along about 1948 Robert G. (Bob) Wertheim, officially started R.G.W. Candy Company making his own confections & a few select items from recipes last published in 1908. His son, Tom Wertheim continued the tradition for the 2nd generation; and in 2016, Amy Wertheim, Bob’s granddaughter, became the 3rd generation to continue the legacy of only the simple ingredients required to make the candy the way it used to be made - without preservatives, flavorings, modern chemistry, or machinery. We offer you “regular old candy”, hand-made & hand-dipped especially for you.
