Carol Hagen is the owner of Queen Bee Pollinators and since 2013 has partnered exclusively with Strange Honey Farm to deliver pure raw Tennessee mountain honey to the Nashville area. The name "Tennessee Artisan Honey" reflects our approach to beekeeping. A lifelong advocate of sustainable farming, Gary Strange harvests three distinct honeys: Tennessee Mountain spring & summer harvest, Dark Wildflower honey, and traditional Sourwood Honey. Our honey reflects a Zone 7 mixture of forest nectar & pollen; the honey is lightly filtered so naturally occurring pollen remains a significant feature.
Gary Strange follows the nectar flow through 7-8 counties within the Cherokee National Forest in Zone 7. Fortunately, the surrounding mountains are not conducive to industry or commercial farming. This pristine environment is a beekeeper's dream come true: it provides a full season of nectar and pollen for our healthy bees and in turn, a significant harvest of delicious honey. The Strange Honey Farm harvests enough honey May-October to last through the winter months supplying 100% pure Tennessee honey year-round.
Gary Strange operates the largest natural apiary in Tennessee using sustainable hive management techniques. No sugar is fed to the bees at any time. If there is a summer drought, Gary feeds the Strange Honey Farm bees back their own honey harvest to keep them healthy. We harvest pollen to feed back to our winter bee colonies. Our hives are place near spring fed creeks & streams to ensure our bees have sufficient clean water.
Gary Strange started his apiary in 1983 with 100 hives in Del Rio, TN. Today, Gary and his crew care for 1400 naturally managed hives and harvests pure, raw honey. Strange Honey Farm has been registered with & inspected by the Tennessee Dept. of Ag for 40 years.
