Logan Family Farms is a 4th generation family farm that raises minimum 21 day aged Black Angus Beef and Heritage Breed Berkshire Black Pork along with row crops and other grains for the commodity grain market. Tom and Joann Logan moved the farm business into the retail world about 10 years ago as their three children looked at careers in agriculture. All three children are Penn State AG graduates and our oldest wanted to continue on the farm. Our daughter works in the mid-west, as a meat scientist and a source of information for us. We now have a daughter in law working with the meat sales and are expecting our 8th grandchild.
We are known for the superior quality of our meats which are all produced on our farm in Irwin, PA. We have the mother cows and mother sows. WE do not use hormones, steroids, or added antibiotics on homegrown feed and grasses. We raise our cattle until they are prime or high choice in quality grade which allows for the extended aging time. The Berkshire Breed of hogs carry the inherited trait of having a slightly higher ph value in the muscle giving the meat a buttery texture. Our meat cuts are vacuumed packaged in small portions or family size portions. We work to use conservation practices that balance soil health and productivity for sustainability.
