We are a 125 year old farm in west central Indiana. I am the 4th generation to farm the land. Dad, myself, and Shawn work tirelessly to process, harvest, clean, and bag our products. We currently raise eggs, poultry, produce and fruits. We have been a poultry/produce farm for 11 years.
Our produce is grown naturally or our rich black soil, some of the best in the world! We grow all of our produce without harmful chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. Our poultry supplies the fertilizer need to grow the vegetables and fruit. We grow all kinds of produce and fruits during the season. We also store some of the produce that is able to be stored through the fall and winter. We also process some of our excess fruits and vegetable for sale in the winter sales.
Our poultry is somewhat newer as we have been raising them for a little over year. We currently have 1500 laying hens. We keep up to 500 meat birds on feed at all times. We also have a small flock of meat turkeys and ducks for eggs and meat.
Our chickens are housed in several buildings on the farm. They are kept in the winter part of the time, but if you come to the farm during the day you will see birds everywhere. We really enjoy raising the poultry, as they are very friendly and happy!
One of the things that set us apart in our poultry is we grind all of the feed that the chickens get weekly. This ensures that they get the freshest feed each day. No big box store feed that is months old. We now are roasting our beans instead of buying soybean meal, again ensuring the freshest feed. Our feed, with roasting the beans supplies the fat and other ingredients for great tasting eggs and meat. We add hay and oats to help make the yokes yellow which increases the amount of Omega 3's. We will put our orange yokes up against anyone's eggs.
This coming year we will be growing our own corn, soybeans, and oats on the farm to make sure we know where the feed comes from. It will also be non-gmo at the time.
We also process our ducks, chickens, and turkeys on the farm. This ensures that we know that the poultry is processed as humanly as possible. This also makes our meat very fresh, not frozen for months.
Our poultry and eggs are raised, fed, and processed on the farm so we know what they have been fed, and know that we get our birds when processed.
Thank you for exploring our family farm.
