Little Europa offers the exquisite taste of Homemade European Smoked Meats and Sausages. Owners Miro and Bozka Gono make their own sausages and smoked meats, which they retail at the Kenosha Harbor Market, Internet and various local and regional Festivals.
Sausage making has been in the Gono family for generations; Miro learned sausage making from his father and grandfather while living in Slovakia as a little boy, and he still makes the sausages and meats today using authentic, age-old European recipes and spices. Following the strictest State and Federal guidelines, all of the Meats and Sausages are homemade with the finest ingredients coming from local farmers. Meats are smoked using cherry, hickory and apple wood chips.
One of their finest and most popular sausages is Landjäger, (in both the singular and the plural, which means “country hunter” or gamekeeper — originally a kind of mounted police in some German provinces) is a semi-dried sausage traditionally made in Southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Alsace (where the name in French is “gendarme”). This semi-dried sausage is popular asa snack food during activities such as hiking and tree planting or while just standing in your kitchen.
They also have a history as soldier’s food because they keep without refrigeration and come in single-meal portions. Prepared in their commercially licensed catering kitchen in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the Gono family proudly presents these historically savory meats and sausages for your taste sensation!
